New edition with some parts in first edition printed in 200 numbered copies on Japan paper. Work illustrated with 11 watercolors hors-texte by Alcide Théophile Robaudi as well as 35 watercolors in-text by Adolphe Giraldon. Full havana morocco binding, spine with five raised bands decorated with a gilt floral composition climbing the spine executed with pieces of green and brown mosaic morocco, date and place gilt at tail, gilt roulettes on headcaps, work's title composed of pieces of red mosaic morocco set in gold at head of first cover, rich gilt floral composition running the full height of the first cover along its right margin and comprising pieces of red, green and brown mosaic morocco, endpapers and pastedowns of beige moiré silk enhanced with embroidered tricolor floral bouquets, small gilt floral composition in the same taste at foot of second cover, frame on pastedowns of gilt floral friezes enhanced with pieces of red, blue and green mosaic morocco, following endpapers of handmade paper, covers and spine preserved, edges gilt, gilt fillets on leading edges, slipcase with havana morocco entry, pebbled paper boards, superb contemporary mosaic binding signed Ruban and dated 1896. Our copy is enhanced with an original watercolor signed by Alcide Théophile Robaudi on an endpaper representing a woman. Very handsome copy magnificently executed.
