Autograph letter dated and signed, one page, from filmmaker and Immortel René Clair addressed to Thierry Maulnier, 13 lines in black ink, concerning his future election to the Académie française. Central folds inherent to postal folding. Printed stamp "Fonds archives privées Maulnier" in lower left corner of the missive. René Clair seeks to comfort Thierry Maulnier who is presenting his candidacy to the Académie française by assuring him of his vote: "There will certainly be blank ballots or those bearing crosses. This is the price that must be paid by the lone rider. All I can tell you without committing my vote (since regulations forbid it!) is that mine will be neither blank nor decorated."
