Some occasional foxing.
The text is by the historian Assas who, alongside others (notably José Amados de los Rios), within the Romantic movement, advocated for "the necessity and importance of the history of Spanish architecture" and sought to combat the widespread neglect of Spanish Gothic.
The Escuela Especial de Arquitectura had been founded four years earlier in this very spirit.
The Spanish intended to continue the legacy of Laborde and his celebrated Voyage pittoresque et historique de l’Espagne.
