These memoirs were partly seized and destroyed at the request of the author's family; they form, in the manner of a chronicle, year by year, day by day, a major source for knowledge of Second Empire society. His writing breaks brutally with the style of classical memoirists, using short and incisive sentences.

The corsair Le Spartiate gave chase to two vessels flying American flags, the Charles and the Mary; the ships were brought back to port and their cargo confiscated. The Bordeaux tribunal, compliant in the matter, declared the cargo of both ships lawful prize, invoking dubious reasons even though America was in no way numbered among France's enemies, thus permitting the chase and seizure of the ships' goods. The captains were Irish, which provided material for the defense.
Our copy, presented in wrappers without covers, was apparently removed from a binding.

Monograph on the basilica of Saint Boniface and Alexis in Rome, on the Aventine Hill. At the time when architect Tommasso de Marchis was commissioned to rebuild the church, Nerini composed this work on its origins and history. The origin of the basilica dates back to the 4th century, when a first sanctuary was built on the tomb of Saint Boniface. In 977, the church was entrusted to Sergius of Damascus, who is considered the introducer of the cult of Alexis. As the introduction shows, Nerini planned to write a second volume on the modern history of the building, but this never saw the light of day.
The volume begins with a neo-Latin poem by Fabio Devoti written in homage to Nerini and Cardinal Quirini.
