Born into a Lorraine dynasty of physicians, Antoine-Constant Saucerotte was born in Moscow in 1805 and died in Lunéville in 1884.
He received his medical degree in Paris in 1828 before settling in Lunéville, where he successively became chief physician of the civil and military hospital (1838) and professor of natural history at the lycée. A member of several learned societies, he was the author of numerous educational works on scientific and moral subjects, making him one of the leading nineteenth-century writers on education; questions of hygiene were of particular concern to him.
Autograph presentation inscription from Antoine-Constant Saucerotte to Dr Turck at the head of the front wrapper.
