This work constitutes a supplement to the "Memorandum" published by Lafragua in 1857, which contained the correspondence exchanged between Mexican and Spanish diplomats during a particularly critical period in Mexican history, spanning the fall of the Santa Anna dictatorship and the Liberal victory under Juárez (1855). This update, dated Paris, 20 March 1858, was issued in the same year as Juárez's election to the presidency of Mexico.
