First edition illustrated with an unpublished portrait in chromolithography, 14 frames on tinted frieze, ornaments and tailpieces extracted from a 15th-century manuscript, and 14 beautiful original compositions printed in monochrome by Claudius Ciappori-Puche. Deluxe publisher's binding in full brown shagreen gilt and polychrome signed at foot by Legros and Pelletier. Spine with raised bands decorated with special tools. Large ornamental panel on boards, with at the center of the upper board a shield on blue ground, same on the lower board with the initials JD within a decorative medallion. Foot headcap slightly worn in part. Gilt roll on leading edges and rich interior frieze. Edges gilt. Leather of lower joint at foot with slight crack. Some pale scattered foxing. Rich binding inspired by the 15th century. Biography of Joan of Arc examined from the perspective of her divine mission.
