Autograph letter dated and signed by Claude Farrère, 62 lines in black ink on Grand Hôtel de Paris letterhead from Seville, addressed to his friend Pierre Louÿs describing a bas-relief from the altarpiece of the expiatory chapel erected by Isabella the Catholic in the Alhambra of Granada. Fold marks inherent to postal handling, envelope included. Claude Farrère depicts the mythological scene composing the bas-relief of the altarpiece of the expiatory chapel erected by Isabella the Catholic in the Alhambra of Granada: "... at both ends, two satyrs standing, looking toward the center, one with bewilderment, the other with lust; in the middle, a young lady whom we shall suppose to be Leda... Nothing is lacking in the satyrs either, whose gesture is so vertical that their navel must not be excessively reassured... the swan very proper, and striving to embrace all he can of his partner, with his feet and his neck... Finally, do you get the picture?" As an inveterate seducer, Claude Farrère cannot but admire the beauty of the Andalusian women he has encountered: "There are so many adorable girls in Seville that I am not about to leave. I am thinking of Conchita, rest assured. I have already found her house, plaza del Trionfo."
