Autograph postcard signed by Jean Paulhan, 30 lines written in blue ink on the verso of a photographic reproduction showing a view of Capri, addressed to publisher Felia Leal, notably of the work "Paroles transparentes", a work by Jean Paulhan illustrated by Georges Braque. She also wrote children's tales. Jean Paulhan shares his mixed impressions of Italy, its landscapes and monuments: "Il faut renoncer aux paysages trop beaux...Pour les églises et les monuments, la meilleure solution, je crois, serait d'y jeter un coup d'oeil, de bien recevoir le choc, et puis s'en aller. L'attention affaiblit tout." ["One must give up landscapes that are too beautiful...For churches and monuments, the best solution, I believe, would be to glance at them, receive the shock properly, and then leave. Attention weakens everything."]
