Letter autograph signed by Stanislas de Guaita, two pages, addressed to Eugene Vallée who was a close friend of the family, of 27 lines in black ink, undated but probably written, from his Parisian home, shortly after the publication of his "Rosa mystica" in 1885 at Alphonse Lemerre.
Traces of central folds inherent to a letter slipped into an envelope, foxing.
In this letter with his crown of marquises, Stanislas de Guaita shows his gratitude and gratitude to his correspondent who has always been the benevolent protector of his mother and himself and to whom, as a thank you, he offers one of the very first copies of Rosa Mystica: "I bring you a copy of Rosa mystica and beg you to accept it as a pledge of my affection and my life. gratitude for all the good care you have given to the Child and the Mother ...
He then charged his friend with several missions: the distribution of his books, through his publisher Alphonse Lemerre, to a person whose address he does not know , to then probe Alphonse Lemerre about the possibility of making some changes to the an aspect which he considers to be too uniform in his works: "Ask Lemerre, then, if he could not change the covers, instead of giving everything, yellow or gray, to the sale?" and finally he asks him about from a diplomatic interrogation: "Tell me by a word if it is in the usages to offer a flight. with dedication to Alphonse Lemerre ".
We add to this handwritten letter from Stanislas de Guaita, a eulogistic one-page autograph, probably written by Eugene Vallée, about the publication and the promised fame for Rosa Mystica, which has just come out and sounds like the manifesto of a generation: " ... a book of poems alternately exquisite and robust, where on each page the feverish mystical soul of our decadent epoch flutters, sometimes powerful and broad, sometimes delicate and nuanced to infinity ... " then he continues: "The long preface of the book, in which M. de Guaita carefully judges and analyzes the talent of all contemporary poets, is called to great success."
