Printed calling card of academician Georges Duhamel on which he has added, on the front, these few words for a certain Peillard, notably about his health problems:
"Mon cher Peillard, Je vous renvoie sans attendre les épreuve reçues au dernier courrier. Je viens de passer dans mon lit presque tout le temps des fêtes. J'ai beaucoup souffert d'une de ces crises de rhumatisme qui m'empêchent pour l'instant de poser le pied par terre et même de goûter le repos du lit. Je me relève, depuis hier ; mais je ne sortirai pas avant la semaine prochaine. Trouvez ici mes voeux les plus cordiaux pour madame Peillard et vous-même. Ma femme me dit de joindre ses voeux aux miens. Je le fais. A bientôt ! A vous de grand coeur. GDuhamel." ("My dear Peillard, I return without delay the proofs received in the last post. I have just spent almost all the holiday time in my bed. I have suffered greatly from one of those rheumatic attacks that prevent me at the moment from setting foot on the ground and even from enjoying the rest of bed. I am getting up since yesterday; but I will not go out before next week. Please find here my most cordial wishes for Madame Peillard and yourself. My wife tells me to join her wishes to mine.
