Original engraving unsigned, executed with burin, likely by Harman Jansz van Muller. Proof on watermarked laid paper, work from the early 17th century. This is an illustration of the Gospel according to Matthew 25:19, "After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them." Legend in Latin in the lower part of the engraving. Numbered mentions "4" at the bottom in the engraving and in the lower right corner in the section devoted to the legend, and manuscript mention "106" in the margin in the upper right corner. An old manuscript annotation in Greek characters under the right angle of the plate mark. Watermark visible by transparency. Rare and discreet marginal foxing, light traces of marginal dampstaining not touching the engraving, a tiny corner lack, otherwise very handsome state of preservation for this extremely rare engraving of great freshness. The engraver Harman Jansz van Muller worked with Cornelis Cort (also known as Cornelio Fiammingo), and was perhaps his pupil.
