Original engraving executed with burin by Harman Jansz van Muller. Proof on watermarked laid paper, work from the early 17th century. This is an illustration of the Gospel according to Matthew 25:18, "And he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money." Legend in Latin in the lower part of the engraving. Artist's signature in the plate. Numbered mentions "3" at the bottom in the engraving and in the lower right corner in the section devoted to the legend, and manuscript mention "105" in the margin in the upper right corner. An old manuscript annotation in Greek characters under the right angle of the plate mark. Watermark visible by transparency. Rare and discreet foxing mainly marginal, light traces of marginal dampstaining not touching the engraving, a tiny corner lack, an old marginal restoration using a paper strip, otherwise very handsome state of preservation for this extremely rare engraving of great freshness. The engraver Harman Jansz van Muller worked with Cornelis Cort (also known as Cornelio Fiammingo), and was perhaps his pupil.
