The first fascicle concerns observations on cataract extraction surgery, the second deals with various surgical operations, notably hernia, tracheotomy... These works establish the evolution of surgery in Europe and its progressive ascension, gradually taking a predominant place over medicine. The University of Gottingen was particularly influential.
