Small tear at foot of volume II and occasional marginal dampstaining at head. A handsome set overall.
Not only did the Peace of Westphalia bring an end to the Thirty Years' War, it also concluded the eight-year conflict between Spain and the Netherlands. It comprises two treaties, those of Osnabrück and Münster. For the first time, European states came together to determine the fate of the continent while respecting national sovereignty. Germany emerged weakened, and France without rival.
