The most complete collective edition of the works of Alexis Piron, edited by Rigoley de Juvigny. Portrait of the author at the head of the first volume, engraved on copper by Augustin de Saint-Aubin after Caffieri. As very often, the eighth volume, comprising the Œuvres badines, is not included here. A full-margined copy. Title pages in red and black. Contemporary bindings in full blonde mottled calf, smooth spines decorated with gilt fillets, roulettes and fleurons as well as red morocco title and volume labels, black morocco inlay on the volume labels, red and green morocco bands at head and foot, fine gilt roulette framing the boards, gilt roulette on the edges and headcaps, gilt roulette framing the pastedowns and paste paper endpapers, all edges gilt. Wormhole damage at the foot of the joint of the second board of the first volume; small wormhole at the foot of the joint of the first board of the sixth volume. Bookplate of the library of Comte Fernand de la Ferronnays. A very handsome copy elegantly bound in contemporary full calf.
