Texts by various correspondents of the journal.
Handsome and rare copy.
First edition of this complete collection, including the portrait of Cochin as frontispiece. Some of the memoirs had appeared in 1773, but the collected edition that brings them all together is indeed dated 1774; certain pieces are dated 1773 as they were added after the title page bearing the 1774 date. Although the pagination varies, the collection contains only one general title page; some memoirs have half-titles, others do not.
Contents of the collection: Mémoires de M. Caron de Beaumarchais contre M. Goezman, Supplément au mémoire à consulter, Addition au Supplément du mémoire à consulter, Requeste d'atténuation pour le Sr Caron de Beaumarchais, Quatrième mémoire à consulter, Suite de la justification du Sieur de Beaumarchais, Mémoire pour Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais, Réponse ingénue de Beaumarchais à la consultation injurieuse que le Comte de la Blache a répandu dans Aix, Le tartare à la légion (this piece is rare and is found in very few collections).

In this work the author, a volunteer paratrooper active at the front during almost the entire "Algerian War", describes with complete impartiality the abuses committed by the French Army in Algeria, which resulted in "Saint Michel et le Dragon" being seized upon publication.
Original photograph of Ravachol flanked by gendarmes, period albumen print mounted on card with a red border, bearing the handwritten caption « Ravachol à Montbrison » at the foot.
This image was taken by Auguste Berthon, a photographer based in Saint-Étienne, on the eve of Ravachol’s execution, during a walk in the prison yard at Montbrison. This promenade is mentioned in the surveillance reports of the Conciergerie: « Le détenu a été conduit à la promenade à 8 heures, a déjeuné à 9 heures et est retourné à la promenade de 10 heures à midi où il était encore lorsque nous avons été remplacés. » (11 May 1892)
Very skilful restoration to the upper left corner.
We have located only one other copy of this photograph, held at the Bibliothèque du Patrimoine de Clermont-Auvergne.

First edition on ordinary paper.
Publisher’s full cloth binding, flat spine, minor inconsequential wear to headcaps and corners.
