Printed proof with autograph inscription and autograph correction "Victor Hugo à l'Espagne" instead of "Victor Hugo et l'Espagne" of an article by Hugo written in Guernsey dated in the print "Hauteville House, 22 October 1868". Published in La Liberté (26 October 1868), with a dedication to Emile de Girardin ("à mon cher et grand ami") which does not yet appear in this preparatory broadside. Folds inherent to the elongated format of the sheet, a small tear on one letter without loss.

Autograph statement by Victor Hugo, written on August 8, 1857. 13 lines in black ink on the back of an envelope inscribed with his Guernsey address, bearing two postmarks, one from Gramat dated June 23, 1857, and the other in English dated June 26. A few words crossed out by the author.
This is probably a draft for a notarial document relating to La Fallue, where Hugo had installed Juliette Drouet during his exile. Now a "French outlaw and English landlord", Hugo had moved with his family to Hauteville House the previous summer, and rented for Juliette a house a stone's thr

Several examples of underlining and corrections by Victor Hugo. A small hole ever so slightly affects one letter, due to the mail having been opened, as well as some light signs of folding.
