Count de Lagarde was a member of the Royal Society of Warsaw, the Academy of Naples, and the Literary Society of the city of Cracow.
Having emigrated to Austria and Poland during the Reign of Terror, he undertook the journey from Moscow to Vienna in 1811, returning to France after 1815 before eventually settling in London.
A man of letters, he was also the author of a collection of poems, a work on Bavaria, and several romances, including one devoted to the death of Prince Poniatowski.
An uncommon work, prohibited at the time by Russian censorship.
