A senior American diplomat, Richard Holbrooke obtained, in 1995, the truce between the different factions in Bosnia. He was also the instigator of the signing of the Dayton Accords, on December 14, 1995 in Paris, which ended the interethnic fighting that was taking place in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
