The collection of monograms is organized around 8 themes: religious monograms; painters, sculptors and engravers; ceramics; publishers, printers and booksellers; emperors, kings and sovereigns; princes, great lords; cities; miscellaneous.
Following these, 38 blank leaves have been placed with frames intended to receive other categories of monograms, where one actually finds a monogram and an armorial label pasted on the first two blank pages.
Full purple paper boards binding, smooth unlettered and faded spine, title stamped in gold on the lightened first cover, orange paper endpapers and pastedowns, corners slightly bumped, all edges gilt, contemporary binding.
