Enumeratio plantarum quas in insulis archipelagi aut littoribus Ponti-Euxini, annis 1819 et 1820, collegit atque detexit J. Dumont d'Urville

First edition of this extremely rare botanical monograph, written by the great navigator following the scientific expedition sent to the Black Sea and the Greek islands aboard La Chevrette, during which he was entrusted with observations in natural history and archaeology (it was during this mission that the Venus de Milo was unearthed).

Late 19th-century brown half cloth, smooth spine with library shelf label at foot and red morocco lettering-piece, marbled paper boards, corners slightly rubbed, speckled edges.

Bound in at the end are three short monographs, all in first edition and published in 1842, the year of d'Urville's death, dealing with various floras of the Near East; none is at all common:
