One of the author's earliest publications. Victor-Honoré Guérin (1821-1891) was entrusted with a mission to Palestine and the island of Rhodes in 1854.
During two subsequent missions to Palestine [1863 and 1870], he visited more than 1,500 localities, towns and villages, thereby acquiring an invaluable knowledge of the artistic productions of the Levant.
Autograph presentation inscription signed by Victor-Honoré Guérin at the head of the upper cover.
