Full lemon-colored long-grain morocco binding, spine browned with eight fine raised bands richly decorated with romantic decorative motifs now faded, red morocco title-label, author's name in olive morocco, gilt roulettes on headcaps, rich frames of gilt fillets, garlands and gilt rules on boards, gilt fillets at head and foot of leading edges, frames of gilt garlands on endpapers, brown paper endpapers and pastedowns, all edges gilt, modern slipcase with lemon morocco entry, boards covered with marbled paper, contemporary romantic binding. Precious autograph inscription signed by Alfred de Vigny: "... témoignage de dévouement et de respect / son neveu / Alfred de Vigny." ["testimony of devotion and respect / his nephew / Alfred de Vigny."] Rare worming affecting essentially the first and last pages. A handsome copy in an elegant contemporary romantic binding.
