Autograph letter dated August 1, 1926 and signed with a page and a half of Pierre Jean Jouve apologizing to his correspondent after the latter knocked on his door and Pierre Jean Jouve, then bedridden and suffering, could not open to him. Embarrassed and exhausted, he wishes to see his interlocutor on his return to Paris, which he leaves during the day and which he will not hold against him for the incident described above. "Dear sir, I am very confused about what happened the other day and I apologize. When you knocked on my door I was at home, but ill, and in such uneasiness as I do not know. could neither open you nor make any sign to you. I tried to reach you on Saturday and explain the circumstances to you by telephone, without being able to find you. I am leaving Paris this afternoon, very tired. I hope that we will be able to see each other this fall, and especially that you will not have any resentment against me, and I beg you to believe in my cordial feelings. "
