La Tentation de Saint Antoine

First edition illustrated with woodcuts by Raphaël Drouart. Copy no. 728 (66 to 1050 on Vélin d'Arches). 18 full-page color plates printed in different tones: sepia, grey, blue, gold, green...), 7 black and white vignettes at chapter beginnings, 3 at chapter ends and one at text end.
Contemporary signed full brown marbled calf binding by René Kieffer, with his label at top of first endpaper. Raised band spine decorated with 2 diamond shapes with stylized foliage panel in blind. Boards decorated with 2 large panels with alternating foliage in blind, one darker brown, the other lighter. The spine and edges are lighter, only the panels and tools are dark brown. Minor rubbing. Some occasional foxing on an otherwise fresh set.
Superb Art Deco binding by Kieffer. This binding has already been used on several copies of this edition (generally on first paper copies), so it is likely a publisher's commission for this work.
