First edition illustrated with 8 color plates hors-texte. Some light foxing affecting mainly the beginning and end of the volume. Half red calf binding with corners, spine with five raised bands set with gilt garlands and crossed gilt fillets, gilt undulated friezes at head and foot, blind-ruled frame on marbled paper boards, marbled endpapers and pastedowns, marbled edges, contemporary English binding. Some light traces of rubbing to spine, joints, boards and corners. Texts by G. Taplin "The Narrinyeri", J.P. Wyatt "The Adelaide tribe", A. Meyer "The encounter bay tribe", C.W.
