The first edition, of which there were no deluxe copies. Handsome copy despite small wormholes on the edges. Amusing signed autograph inscription by Bernard Thomas on the half-title page to Jean-Pierre Richard, Carlo Rim's son: "Pour Jean-Pierre, par ma chandelle verte, j'espère que ça va faire de l'oseille." ["For Jean-Pierre, by my green candle, I hope this will make some money."] A Provençal writer, caricaturist and filmmaker, Carlo Rim was the friend and confidant of numerous artists and authors among the greatest figures of the 20th century: Antonin Artaud, Marcel Pagnol, Fernandel, Raimu, Max Jacob, Edith Piaf, Tristan Bernard, Jacques Prévert... His son, Jean Pierre Richard, Jacques Prévert's godson, would follow in his father's illustrious footsteps, both artistically and socially, and would count among his close friends Simenon and Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
