First edition of 550 copies printed on candle paper from the Arches paper mills with the watermark of the Nouvelle Revue française (sole printing). Frontispiece: A portrait of the author on Japan paper in soft-ground etching by Paul-Albert Laurens. Copy No. 379. Original wrappers preserved, lacking spines. 2 leaves of catalogues at rear. Later half morocco with corners in burgundy signed G. Dubois-D'Enghien at top of endpaper. Spine with 5 raised bands in Jansenist style with author, title, volume number and date gilt. Top edges gilt. Gilt fillets on boards. Very handsome copy, with superbly fresh paper in near-mint condition. Bookplate: G. Foulon, with the motto Semina fert eundo.
