The rare and sought-after first edition, according to Clouzot, especially in contemporary binding Contemporary half black shagreen binding. Spine with raised bands decorated with 4 ornamental tools and various fillets, dotted on the bands, doubled at the headcaps, in blind to delineate the compartments. Black morocco title label. A slight tear at foot with small lack. Traces of rubbing to headcaps and on boards and edges. Micro crack to lower joint at head over 1cm with tiny lack to headcap. Very fresh copy, free from foxing, with very white paper, except for the first half-title and endpapers. Handsome copy.
