First collected edition of the French translation by Javelin Pagnon. Some foxing. Texts preceded by a life of Chatterton by A. Callet. Half black shagreen binding, spine with four raised bands decorated with double black compartments, traces of rubbing to spine, black paper boards, marbled endpapers and pastedowns, speckled edges. Rare copy of the complete works of Thomas Chatterton, talented English mystifying poet who preferred to absorb arsenic rather than die of hunger, thus becoming, for the Romantics, the archetype of the misunderstood genius poet.
