First edition printed on vélin d'Angoulême paper, first printing, complete with the six suppressed pieces and the fault "Feurs du Mal" on pp. 31 and 108, as well as the pagination error on p. 45 (marked 44). Bound in blak shagreen, spine in six compartments with double blindruled compartments and a gilt fleuron to centre, gilt date to foot of spine, gilt roulettes to head- and tailpieces, sextuple blindruled fillets and fleurons to the covers, marbled endpapers and pastedowns, gilt dentelle frame to pastedowns, gilt fillet to edges, upper cover preserved for Les fleurs du mal, covers preserved for the Complément, all edges gilt ; slipcase edged in black shagreen, marbled paper boards, lined with grey suede, a very nicely bound copy by Semet & Plumelle. A very slight lack to foot of half title page and title page of Les Fleurs du mal. Included with the work is, with a same binding, the first edition of "Complément aux Fleurs du mal" published by Michel Lévy 1869.
A very fine set nicely and elegantly bound by Semet & Plumelle.
