Half red shagreen binding, headcaps damaged, paper on boards very slightly detached, spine with four raised bands decorated with gilt ornament, publisher's binding.

La Gazette des beaux-arts is a French art review, founded in 1859 by Édouard Houssaye, with Charles Blanc as editor-in-chief; it ceased publication in 2002.
For nearly one hundred and fifty years it was a world reference in art history.
