First edition. Limited to 1000 numbered copies on Velin du Marais paper, no. 89. A hand-watercolored frontispiece with gold highlights, 37 superb engravings, most in mezzotint as plates, but some in text (frames, coats of arms...), under inscribed tissue guards. One double-page engraving and two in sepia printing. The plates, superbly executed, are before letters and printed on strong vellum. Contemporary half pink morocco binding with corners. Spine with raised bands decorated with fillets. Gilt titles. Light spotting on the first compartment, on one corner. Some rare worming. Very handsome copy. Famous monograph by Pierre de Nolhac, admirably illustrated.
