Autograph letter signed by Pierre Louÿs addressed to a friend whom he calls "khiliarque". Ample and calligraphic handwriting in violet ink. A tear without loss of text to the first page. Eloquent letter testifying to Pierre Louÿs' fragile health in the last years of his life: "Vous me retrouvez en pleine crise d'emphysème. Médecins. Ventouses. Potions. Régime. Intertitude chaque jour sur la journée du lendemain." [You find me in the midst of an emphysema crisis. Doctors. Cupping. Potions. Regimen. Uncertainty each day about the next day.] The letter also reveals the writer's passion for dramaturgy, notably through the mention of Gustave Quinson, then director of the Palais-Royal theatre. "Voulez-vous être tout à fait gentil ? Envoyez-moi d'abord votre livret que je suis si curieux de connaître..." [Would you be so kind? First send me your libretto which I am so curious to know...]
