First edition illustrated with an allegorical frontispiece and a plate with several figures (palm fruit, palm flower, basil). Collection of 4 letters written by missionaries in Tripoli, Tunis and Marseilles in 1700, the first on the state of the kingdom of Tripoli, the second on the kingdom of Tunis, the third on that of Algiers, the last on the redemption of slaves and captives. Contemporary brown sheep binding. Spine with raised bands richly decorated. Tail headcap worn. Upper joint narrowly cracked at head. Rubbing. Corners bumped. Some leaves yellowed. Good copy. Travel account on customs, usages and traditions, monuments and on the state of captives and slaves. Engaging narrative full of curious anecdotes.
