First French bibliography devoted to anonymous or pseudonymous authors. The author, who died in 1706, could not continue his work, and we would have to wait for Barbier's dictionary of anonymous works to have complete work on the subject. Moreover, this work does not overlap with Barbier's at all, since it was meant to serve as an introduction to a vast work on the subject, and indeed, it is an essay that attempts to understand the reasons for anonymity or disguise, although it remains bibliographical work (index containing 1700 pseudonyms).
