Vasselier's Poésies appear to have had several editions at the same date, this one is considered the first. Unsigned portrait of the author as frontispiece. Near-contemporary binding, Restoration period, in full brown calf signed Thouvenin. Spine with five raised bands richly decorated with gilt dentelles and fillets, as well as blind-tooled fleurons in the compartments and a black morocco title label. Blind dentelle, black fillet and gilt cornerpieces framing the boards. Joints slightly cracked. Foxing on the endpapers, frontispiece and opening and closing leaves. Works of a minor Lyonnais poet of the late 18th century in the tradition of Grécourt, apparently director of the Post Office; Viollet Le Duc describes him thus: "His style is pure and elegant", "his tales, though too free, are nevertheless quite charming".
