First edition of this tragedy first performed at the Comédie française on April 29, 1726. It had been nine years since the playwright had produced a play and Pyrrhus was a great success. Contemporary binding in full speckled calf, spine with five raised bands decorated with gilt compartments and fleurons, double blind fillet frame on boards, gilt roulette on cuts and headcaps, marbled endpapers and pastedowns, all edges red. Last endpaper restored with a paper strip. Very rare autograph inscription signed by the author "à Monsieur / Monsieur de Fayolle de la part de son humble et très obéissant serviteur Crébillon" ["to Monsieur / Monsieur de Fayolle from his humble and very obedient servant Crébillon"]. Autograph inscriptions signed prior to the 19th century are very rare and sought after.
