New edition. An unsigned frontispiece depicting the emperor on horseback in battle. Contemporary full brown speckled calf bindings. Spine with raised bands, decorated. Brown morocco title and volume labels. 2 wormholes on the first compartment of volume I. A small tear at foot with lack. Good copy. The author's grandfather was a close friend of Charles V, and Vera y Figueroa drew numerous anecdotes from this relationship which nourished his biography of the emperor. The title, which references chivalric romances, tends to place Charles V among legendary heroic figures.
