The lands of Brunswick and Luneburg were elevated to duchy status in 1235, which was abolished in 1806. The Duchy of Brunswick then became part of the Kingdom of Hanover with the end of the Holy Roman Empire. Sagittarius's studies focus particularly on the origins of the Duchy, from 1210 to 1235.
