New edition, the first of which appears to have been published in 1541 in Basel. It was produced by Dario Tiberti. Contemporary limp vellum binding. Smooth spine with author in pen. Vellum yellowed and showing rubbing. From its first appearances, this edition was highly successful and was reprinted many times. In our era where the tendency is toward complete and unabridged works, one may question the importance of a condensed version of an edition of Plutarch's lives, but it must be acknowledged that this abridgment or condensation was remarkably popular, undoubtedly with a broader and less erudite public.
