This correspondence deals with the disputes which opposed the two ambassadors of France to Munster, and on the preparation of the Treaty of Westphalia whose negotiations took place in 1644, at Munster for the Catholics, at Osnabrück for the Protestants. The Treaty of Westphalia was signed in 1648, ending two major conflicts, the Thirty Years' War, and the war opposing the Netherlands to Spain, a war which is often mentioned in this collection.
