    Each work is presented in a brown half morocco slipcase, smooth spine slightly sunned, gilt date at the foot of spine, marbled paper boards, wood-like paper inside.

    A very nice complete set in 10 volumes and a very rare collection of first editions. There were only 14 copies ever printed on Hollande paper of the second and third volumes, meaning that there are possibly only 14 complete...

After numerous adventures, he was awarded the Croix de Guerre and became, at only fifteen, the youngest quartermaster sergeant in France. After serving in various cavalry regiments and chasseur battalions, he was wounded in July 1918 and ended the war with seven citations, as lieutenant and knight of the Legion of Honor...

Charron.” “For Monseiur de Rives in memory of me. In Caors this iiij [4] May 1595. Charron.” It is, without doubt, about Jean III de Rieu, Lord of Rives, who belonged to the family of Antoine Hébrard de Saint-Sulpice, bishop of Cahors. Pierre Charron had been called theological by this same bishop of Cahors and became his curate...
