History of Louis Philippe Joseph d'Orléans from a slanderous and denunciatory perspective. The author presents and depicts the man as a skillful and unscrupulous hypocrite. As epigraph, a quotation from Cicero: « Je ne crois pas qu'il ait jamais existé sur terre un pareil monstre. » (I do not believe that such a monster has ever existed on earth.) The author appears to be a witness to the Revolution, as numerous revolutionary scenes are described from his viewpoint.
