Treatise on perspective divided into 116 mathematical lessons, applicable to painting as well as architecture or other disciplines, each lesson being illustrated by a plate opposite. Jeaurat (1724-1803) was a French geographical engineer and astronomer, then professor of mathematics at the military school; his treatise had great success due to its practical and precise qualities. "This work has long been esteemed," Brunet III, 526.

First edition, one of 150 numbered copies on Japan paper, the only deluxe copies.
Half red morocco with corners, spine with five raised bands, date at foot, covers and spine preserved, top edge gilt on deckled edges, J. Laurent's bookplate pasted to verso of front board, binding signed by Devauchelle.
Our copy includes the original Steinlen drypoint in two states.
The work is enhanced with a recto-verso autograph note from the author addressed to one of his friends.
