An introduction to René Char

Artine & Le Marteau sans maître.

1930, Editions surréalistes : Artine, première œuvre publiée de René Char. Il en a été publié dix exemplaires sur papier Japon, dont celui-ci, exceptionnel, relié par Georges Leroux, l'un des trois plus grands artistes relieurs de la seconde moitié du XXème siècle, avec Monique Mathieu et Jean de Gonet. Leroux était passionné de textes surréalistes. 

 


 
Cet exemplaire est illustré, en frontispice, d'une eau-forte originale de Dali, présente seulement dans les 32 premiers exemplaires :
 

Il comporte en outre une carte celluloïd autographe, unique, datée de juin 1930 et titrée "Prénoms de passantes - Oû êt ? es vous? moi je voyage sur la terre de pipe" sur laquelle René Char a inscrit, à l'aide d'encres de plusieurs couleurs, les prénoms de 17 femmes qui ont inspiré Artine :

Brilliant Story for a Gem of a Book
