Selection of 30 original drawings, watercolors, ink drawings

Set of 30 drawings and vignettes by George Barbier, including original inks, watercolors and inks/drawings on calque, mounted on modern Canson paper. Many of the drawings or vignettes are signed, intialed, or include annotations by Barbier or measurements intended for the publisher.
- 1 exceptional pencil and ink drawing for an in-text illustration for the Gazette du Bon Ton of a woman applying powder (no. 8 of 1922, page 248), with each of the 2 states with a sketch in ink by Barbier intended for the pochoir colors (pink and silver), glued to tracing paper, giving 3 states of the costume, signed and dated 1922
- 1 sheet of several drawings in pencil and ink depicting 1920's women in several tondos
- 2 octogonal sketches in pencil, one depicting a bouquet, the other the profile of woman
- 1 sheet with numerous preparatory sketches of couples dancing, and little devils peppered throughout, probably for a 2-page illustration of La Vie Parisienne titled "La Danse à travers les âges"
- 3 small drawings on Canson paper: 2 watercolors depicting American Indians, similar to the plate "Le Long Du Missouri" in Falbalas Et Fanfreluches, 1923, and 1 pencil sketch enhanced in ink depicting a sphinx and an elongated figure
- 1 sketch in pencil and ink of women playing golf
- 1 sketch in ink in pencil depicting an assembly of woman in an orientalist setting
- 1 advertising project for silk textiles (1 draft illustration for an advertisement for "Toiles de soie naturelle", pencil drawing)
- 3 vignette drawings : one ink of a figure carrying a bottle of perfume, one in pencil of a figure in XVIIIth century clothing, and one ink drawing of a couple kissing
- 1 large project for a vase on tracing paper, graphite heightened with ink (25.8x32.3cm)
