Half green shagreen binding, spine with five fine raised bands decorated with triple gilt compartments enhanced at corners with gilt vegetal motifs, light scratches of no consequence to spine, frame of blind fillets on green paper boards, gilt laurel leaf with gilt inscription stamped at center of front board "Offert par la société de protection des enfants du papier peint", cream watered silk endpapers and pastedowns, all edges gilt.
Work illustrated with 56 engravings in text and 2 maps including 1 folding colored map at rear.
Handsome copy almost entirely free of foxing.
