Contemporary half tan calf binding, smooth spine decorated with double gilt fillets, brick-red morocco title label, marbled paper boards, lemon edges speckled with blue.
Spine slightly rubbed and stained, minor loss to the upper joint.
The work reflects the observations and notes from a journey undertaken in 1790–1791.
A few years later, the Comte de Salaberry (1766–1847) would become, contrary to the Philhellene trend, one of the most staunch opponents of Greek independence and, in his "Histoire de l'Empire Ottoman," would defend the customs and administration of the Sublime Porte, whose legitimacy he would consistently affirm.
